Losses for the locals in women's cricket

ROUND 2 of the Southern Cricket Association's women's roster produced losses for the local sides, New Norfolk and Bothwell, last Sunday.

Playing at home, Bothwell went down to Wellington by 27 runs. Wellington had first knock, making 3-149 from its 20 overs. In reply, Bothwell gave it a good shake, but finished 6/122 from its 20 overs. Joanne Pursell top-scored with 16 from just 13 balls and captain Leisa Pearce made 14 not out, also from 13 balls. Best of the bowlers was Leisa Pearce with 1-20 (4).

In the other match, New Norfolk 5/95 had a five-run loss to the North Huon Warriors 1/100. L. East top-scored for New Norfolk with 29 runs from 20 deliveries, including five 4s. A. Booth was next best with 23 runs (four 4s) and K. Read 22 (three 4s).

In the next round of women's cricket on November 24, Bothwell will meet St Anne's at Cadbury No. 1, and New Norfolk will take on Wellington at Tynwald Park.
