Minor Flood Warning for the River Derwent

Flood Warning Number: 2
Minor flooding may develop along the lower Derwent River below Meadowbank Dam during Saturday morning. Flooding is not expected to extend downstream to Macquarie Plains and New Norfolk during Saturday.
River rises are occurring in the upper Derwent, Nive, Ouse, Florentine, Tyenna, Styx and Plenty Rivers.
Snow may accumulate at higher elevations over the weekend.
Strong and dangerous flows will be a hazard over the next couple of days.
River Derwent above River Ouse:
River rises are occurring in the upper River Derwent and its tributaries.
River rises are occurring along the River Ouse. Lake Augusta is spilling in the upper catchment.The River Ouse at Ashton is currently at 1.42 metres and steady. The River Ouse at Ashton will remain below the minor flood level (2.40 m) during Saturday.
River Derwent above Meadowbank Dam:
Strong river rises are occurring along the Florentine River and the middle reaches of the River Derwent.
River rises are occurring in the Tyenna River.
River rises are occurring along the Styx River. River levels are likely to remain below the minor flood level (2.00 m) along the Styx River about Bruces Bridge during Saturday.
River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam:
Minor flooding may occur along the River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam.The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam is currently at 3.89 metres and rising. The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam is expected to peak between 3.90 and 4.10 metres Saturday morning. The minor flood level is 4.10 m.
The River Derwent at Macquarie Plains is currently at 2.15 metres and rising. River levels are expected to remain below the minor flood level (4.00 m) during Saturday.
River Derwent around New Norfolk:
River rises are occurring along the River Derwent around New Norfolk.The River Derwent at New Norfolk is currently at 1.02 metres and falling. The River Derwent at New Norfolk is expected to remain below the minor flood level (2.00 m) during Saturday.
