Smoke alert for Maydena

SMOKE ALERT FOR GORDON RIVER ROAD, FLORENTINE ROAD AND MAYDENA

There is a bushfire at Gell River, Southwest.

There is no threat to communities.

There may be smoke and ash from this fire visible around Gordon River Road, Florentine Road and Maydena later this morning. Strong north westerly winds will increase during the morning which may increase fire behaviour and smoke production.

What to do:

People with medical conditions are advised to have a personal plan for avoiding smoke from the burn.
Advice is available from the Department of Health www.dhhs.tas.gov.au/publichealth/air/bushfire_smoke or the Asthma Foundation of Tasmania www.asthmatas.org.au

People traveling in the area should exercise caution if driving in smoke. Turn on your headlights and drive slowly.
