Big win for New Norfolk Under 13 cricketers

Luke Jarvis hit 12 fours and six sixes in the New
Norfolk Under 13s victory, including one that hit
the windscreen of Adrian Eiszele's vehicle.
IT must have been an exciting day for the New Norfolk Under 13s when they defeated Kingborough Gold by 63 runs in the Junior League cricket grand final on Sunday at Cadbury No.2 Oval last Sunday. Leaving their best until last, the young Red Caps didn’t put a foot wrong in what was a very good victory.

The toss was won by Kingborough, which chose to send New Norfolk in to bat. The side made the excellent score of 7/249 from their 30 overs. Coming in at number four, Luke Jarvis clubbed 91 not out from just 38 balls, hitting 12 fours and six sixes, with one hitting the windscreen of New Norfolk Cricket Club member Adrian Eiszele’s van. Luke sure did the damage with the bat in more ways than one.

Tom Murray had the very good rate of a run per ball, 35 with seven well-struck fours. He and Luke Jarvis put on a more than 100-run partnership. Captain Cameron McMaster also didn’t waste time to make 31 from just 13 balls hitting three fours and three sixes. Jesse Laycock was very good making 24 from 35 balls which included three fours and one six. Blake Sillifant made 13 from 25 balls hitting two fours and Bobby Nossiter made 11 from 20 with two fours.

In reply, Kingborough put up a good fight finishing 8/186 from its 30 overs. With the ball, all the Red Cap bowlers did very well. Cameron McMaster took 2-15 from three overs, Jack Moodie 1-8 (3), Wyatt Townsend 1-12 (3) plus a runout, Tom Murray 1-14 (3), Jesse Laycock 1-20 (3) and Tom Eiszele 1-25 (3).

Losing just two matches for the season, New Norfolk has shown itself to  have been the best team in Under 13s Black division and thoroughly deserve the win. A big well done to coach Josh Walsh and his helpers, it's a credit to you all.
