Take care on the roads today

POLICE advise motorists to drive according to the conditions at all times and to be aware that on country roads especially, those conditions can change quickly because of ice and snow.

Local road hazards and closures as of 8.41am, Saturday, September 9: 

Gordon River Rd – open but proceed with extreme caution due to snow

Highland Lakes Rd, Steppes to Golden Valley – 4WD only.

Lake Dobson Rd – open but proceed with extreme caution

Lake Secondary Road (Todd’s corner to Miena) – open but proceed with extreme caution

Lake St Clair Rd – open but proceed with extreme caution

Lyell Hwy (Wayatinah to Derwent Bridge) – open but proceed with extreme caution

Marlborough Rd (Bronte to Miena) – proceed with extreme caution.  Bronte to Miena

Waddamana Rd – 4X4 only from Highland Lakes Rd


Midland Highway – open but proceed with caution.

for the Upper Derwent Valley, North West Coast, Central North, North East, Western, Central Plateau, Midlands, East Coast and South East forecast districts

Issued at 9:30am on Saturday 9 September 2017.

Icy and snow covered roads will make driving conditions dangerous during Saturday in parts of the North West Coast, Central North, North East, Western, Central Plateau, Midlands, East Coast, Upper Derwent Valley and South East forecast districts.

For information on any road closures, please contact your local council or the Police.

The next alert will be  issued by 5pm Saturday.
