Caltex revamp revs up

CALTEX New Norfolk will be closed for several hours today and tomorrow as the next stage of its conversion to a Mood Food roadhouse gets under way. Notices at the 24-hour petrol station advise that it will be closed between 10am and 2pm for two days while the retail area is transferred into a temporary building.

This will serve as the petrol station's shop for the next few months while the main building is stripped and refitted. The existing shop and its two adjoining service bays will be incorporated into a large new area which will feature a convenience store, takeaway and coffee bar.

The petrol station was closed for four months last summer while underground infrastructure was upgraded and new bowsers were installed. Further excavations have been carried out in recent weeks to make room for an extension to the existing building on its Hillside Crescent boundary. A site office was delivered in recent days and this is to be used as the petrol station's retail space until November.
