Local actress brings emergency butcher to life

Meg Bignell as Rosehaven's "24-Hour
Emergency Butcher".
EAGLE-EYED Rosehaven viewers were quick to spot home-grown New Norfolk actress Meg Bignell in the role of Cathy the 24 Hour Emergency Butcher last week.

While the character was not seen in the first two episodes of the ABC-TV comedy, the all-hours butcher shop was one of several aspects of the show that quickly made their way into the national consciousness - along with the phrase "Couldn't hack it on the mainland?" - after the series premiered three weeks ago.

Bignell grew up in New Norfolk and is the daughter of Richard and Kate Warner. She attended Fairview Primary School and trained as a nurse before embarking on a career in the media, joining the staff of WIN Television in Hobart. Bignell now has a number of television commercials and acting credits to her name. See her acting showreel here.

Episode four of Rosehaven can be seen at 9pm tomorrow on ABC TV.
