Conducted by TasTAFE, the course will be a combination of hands on practicals, class room theory and a field trip to a local orchard, covering four of the 15 units required for a Certificate 2 in Production Horticulture.
The units covered will be: support harvesting; canopy maintenance; workplace health and safety; and quality assurance. The same course will be conducted at the Sorell and Huon Valley Trade Training Centres.
Costing $49.90, the course is described as a starting point for a career in food production. Prospective students are recommended to talk to one of the teachers to confirm their eligibility for the course.
