Minor Flood Warning for the River Derwent

Minor flooding is likely develop in the lower Derwent catchment below Meadowbank Dam and some tributaries by Friday morning. Minor flooding may extend downstream to New Norfolk during Friday afternoon.
In the 7 hours since 9am as much as 26mm of rain has been recorded in the Upper Derwent catchment. Rainfall totals of 20 to 50mm are forecast for the remainder of Thursday into Friday morning with higher totals possible about elevated areas. Snow melt is expected to increase flood levels during the next 24 hours.
Strong and dangerous flows may be a hazard throughout the Derwent catchment during Thursday and Friday.
River Derwent above River Ouse:
Strong river rises are likely throughout the Upper Derwent catchment overnight Thursday into Friday.
Minor flooding is not expected in the River Ouse.River levels are expected remain below the Minor flood level at Ashton.
River levels are expected remain below the Minor flood level at Ouse.
Minor flooding is not expected in the River Clyde.River levels are expected remain below the Minor flood level at Bothwell.
River levels are expected remain below the Minor flood level at Hamilton.
River Derwent above Meadowbank Dam:
Minor flooding may develop in the middle reaches of the River Derwent by Friday morning.
Strong rises are likely in the Tyenna River during Thursday afternoon into Friday.
Minor flooding developed in the Styx River during Thursday afternoon, with continued strong rises expected.
River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam:
Minor flooding is likely along the River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam.The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam is currently at 2.72 metres and steady. The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam is likely to exceed the minor flood level (4.10 m) Friday morning.
The River Derwent at Macquarie Plains is currently at 1.75 metres and rising. The River Derwent at Macquarie Plains may exceed the minor flood level (4.00 m) Friday afternoon.
River Derwent around New Norfolk:
Minor flooding may occur along the River Derwent around New Norfolk.The River Derwent at New Norfolk may reach the minor flood level (2.00 m) Friday afternoon. Tidal effects around New Norfolk will affect the timing and magnitude of the peak.
