Final Flood Warning for the River Derwent

Issued at 10:12 am on Sunday 31 July 2016

Flood Warning Number: 8
No further flooding is expected throughout the River Derwent basin, with all river levels now below their minor flood levels and easing.
Up to 17mm of rainfall was recorded in the River Derwent catchment in the 24 hours to 9 AM Sunday. No significant further rainfall is expected during Sunday. Observed rainfall and snow melt may maintain high river levels throughout the Derwent catchment on Sunday.
Some storages within the Derwent system are at high levels, with several dams spilling.
Strong flows may be a hazard throughout the Derwent catchment for the next few days.

River Derwent above River Ouse:

River levels in the upper reaches of the Derwent catchment are expected to remain below their minor flood levels Sunday into Monday. Some storages within the Derwent system are at high levels, with several dams spilling.

River Derwent above Meadowbank Dam:

River levels in the middle reaches of the Derwent catchment are expected to remain below their minor flood levels Sunday into Monday.

River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam:

No further flooding is expected in the River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam.
The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam peaked at 4.45 metres around 02:20 pm Friday 29 July and is currently at 3.84 metres and steady. The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam is expected to remain below the minor flood level (4.10 metres) Sunday into Monday.
The River Derwent at Macquarie Plains is currently at 2.80 metres and steady. The River Derwent at Macquarie Plains is expected to remain below the minor flood level (4.0 metres) Sunday into Monday.

River Derwent around New Norfolk:

No flooding is expected in the River Derwent around New Norfolk.
The River Derwent at New Norfolk is currently at 1.45 metres and rising. The river level at New Norfolk is expected to remain below the minor flood level (2.0 metres) Sunday into Monday.
