Still windy but warning cancelled

Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in Tasmania.
The immediate threat of severe thunderstorms has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.
Thunderstorms crossing the southeast of the state brought strong wind gusts and short bursts of rain and local hail. Hobart recorded a wind gust of 100km/hr at 12.30. It will remain windy during the afternoon.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:

  • Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. 
  • Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters. 
  • For emergency assistance contact the SES on 13 25 00.
