Leader of the pack

CUB scout Cameron McMaster has become just the third member of the New Norfolk scouting movement to earn the Grey Wolf Award. Introduced in 2005, the award is the highest achievement available to cubs and is regarded as the junior equivalent to the Queen's Scout award.

A special ceremony was held a fortnight ago for the presentation of Cameron's award by the District Cub Scout Leader presented the Award. To qualify for the Grey Wolf Award, Cameron had to demonstrate his leadership abilities by earning the Gold Boomerang, attending a series of outdoor activities, earning several achievement badges and producing of a Jungle Book resource to be used by the cub pack. Cameron led a small group of cubs on a bushwalk up to Mt Lloyd fire tower.

"Cameron has been an enthusiastic Cub Scout, he has shown good leadership skills and has worked very hard to achieve this award," leader Jo-anne Purcell said.
