High school to seek new principal

NEW Norfolk High School principal Malcolm Elliott today announced that he will be standing down after seven years in the role. Writing in the school newsletter issued today, Mr Elliott said he would be taking up the post of president of the Tasmanian Principals' Association in January 2015.

"I am taking this opportunity to thank the community of our school for the wonderful support I have received since taking up the position of principal in July 2007," Mr Elliott wrote.

"The last seven years have been full of all sorts of highlights mixed with the sadness that comes with the loss of some dear colleagues and former students. My very fondest memories will be of the young citizens of New Norfolk and the Derwent Valley as kind, thoughtful, honest and supportive. I also have a trove of fond memories of the staff with whom I have worked over the years."

"While I will continue as principal of New Norfolk High until the end of the school year, the position will be advertised soon and we will know who will take over the reins. I still have a little over one more term in this community and I look forward to enjoying the continuing success and development of our students in that time. My kindest regards to all."
