THE Parks and Wildlife Service has announced the partial re-opening of Mt Field National Parks after being closed for nearly a week due to the Lake Repulse bushfire. Some restrictions remain in place.
Mt Field re-opened for day use only. Walking tracks around the visitor centre including Russell Falls, Tall Trees and Lady Baron are open. The campground and alpine area tracks remain closed.
In the Southwest National Park, a very large fire is affecting the area between Port Davey and Lake Pedder. Closed tracks include: the Port Davey Track, Old Port Davey Track, Junction Creek Track, Arthur Plains Track, Cracroft Valley Track, Blakes Opening - Huon Track and the Old River traverse.
Scotts Peak Rd, Mt Anne Circuit and Lake Judd track have re-opened. The Huon and Edgar campgrounds are closed. These closures may be in place for an extended period of time.
