Investment bonanza tipped

PROPERTY developer Tony Ellis says several major projects are poised to provide a massive boost to New Norfolk and the wider Derwent Valley. On ABC radio this morning, Mr Ellis spoke about:
  • His own $11 million "Willow Residences" gated community proposal for three buildings adjacent to the Willow Court oval in New Norfolk and the re-building of Franklin House which was destroyed by fire in 2012
  • A nearby "major supermarket" development on the Willow Court oval, which he estimated at $15 million
  • An "independent supermarket" project on the adjacent Royal Derwent Hospital site, estimated by Mr Ellis at $15 million
  • The $84 million conversion of one of Norkse Skog's paper machines at Boyer to produce magazine paper
Other developers are behind the two supermarket projects. Plans for these are on public display at the Derwent Valley Council Chambers.

Mr Ellis also owns a $3 million residential complex in the former Lachlan House building off Humphrey St on the Willow Court site. He described New Norfolk as an attractive proposition for developers due to low prices and a "progressive council". Mr Ellis also spoke in glowing terms of the work done by Haydn and Penny Pearce in the privately-owned section of Willow Court, as well as the recently established conservation committee headed by David Llewellyn.
